Identification & Communication
Identification & Communication represents the GS1 System, which is a set of supply chain management standards for identification of goods and services, data carriers (such as several types of barcodes and RFID tags) and a set of EDI standards for the communication of master data and transaction business data. The GS1 System is used to automate business processes.
GS1 Switzerland represents its members in national and international standardisation organisations (GS1 Global, SNV, CEN, UN) and supports them in implementing the GS1 Standards, which includes:
- Global identification system for products, trading units, locations, documents, companies and more.
- Globally unique identification keys with one- or two dimensional barcodes or RFID technology.
- Global set of business messages: master data exchange, ordering, despatch advice, invoicing and more.
